Hospitals are facing unprecedented challenges. Between skyrocketing costs and ongoing staffing shortages, many have turned to technology to manage this new reality. One such solution is VirtualSitter technology. VirtualSitters new features enable continuous monitoring and communication of high-risk patients at the patient’s bedside, whether in the hospital, at home, or in another care environment.

Now, VirtualSitter technology has even more to offer. VidyoHealth has rolled out new features to its industry leading VirtualSitter technology solution.

ICU

Medical cart integration.

VirtualSitter now offers complete, built-in integration with the industry’s top EHRs (electronic health records) and other clinical tools to support end-to-end digital healthcare delivery. This level of integration ensures VirtualSitter will work within existing workflows, reducing the learning curve, and driving clinician and patient adoption.

Clinical peripherals.

New clinical care technology can improve the quality of virtual patient encounters. The VirtualSitter solution can be paired alongside monitoring equipment like Horus scopes, digital stethoscopes, and PTZ webcams so clinicians can conduct more thorough virtual patient examinations and observations in any environment.

Multiple control options.

Clinicians now have multiple navigation options when using the VirtualSitter technology, including hand-held remotes and the traditional mouse and keyboard. This allows clinicians to choose the option that fits best within their workflow.

WebRTC (real-time communication) audio enhancements.

Clinicians and patients can now join VirtualSitter conferences with a single click from a web browser without installing a plugin or downloading an app. With WebRTC enhancements, face-to-face communication is as ubiquitous and hassle-free as texting or calling.

Closed captioning.

Sometimes hospital noise levels can hamper a patient’s ability to hear, or a patient or family member may be deaf or hard of hearing. VirtualSitter technology addresses these situations through closed captioning features. This live-captioning solution, available for desktop, mobile, or WebRTC users, ensures that everyone in the conference can understand and communicate effectively. Font sizes and backgrounds are customizable for the best readability in any environment.

Integrated translation services.

High-quality communication is essential for optimal outcomes, and language should not be a barrier. VirtualSitter now includes on-demand translation services for more than 200 languages. VidyoHealth offers the ability to schedule calls in advance, record meetings, and add multiple translators to a call.

Hardware testing & tech support.

There is no need to wait until a conference begins to determine if a device’s hardware is working. VirtualSitter now allows participants to test end-point devices prior to a call. These hardware checks are applicable across multiple use cases and allow seamless access to VidyoHealth tech support within the VirtualSitter solution.

Admin-configurable backgrounds.

VirtualSitter allows hospitals to configure their displays to show a background image or share a video with patients waiting to join a conference. This feature can be customized so patients can listen to audio with or without a background image, or they can see a background image with or without audio.

New Features of VidyoHealth

These new additions enhance VidyoHealth’s existing VirtualSitter capabilities, which include the following seven new features.

Flexibility.

Most health systems have a great deal invested in their network of displays and other equipment like telemedicine carts, smart TVs, and mobile devices. Providers should not need to purchase new equipment unless they want to. VirtualSitter will work with a hospital’s existing equipment, helping them get the most from their existing investments.

Custom workflows.

Virtual care comes in many different forms and includes many different workflows, from chronic care management to virtual ICU to falls prevention. VirtualSitter can be customized to align with each of a hospital’s existing workflows. This streamlines onboarding and implementation and helps promote faster adoption.

Easy to use.

VirtualSitter uses simple, onscreen buttons that make it easy for patients and clinicians to connect. The solution provides onscreen email and text invitation options that allow clinicians to invite the patient’s family, providers, and other clinicians to the conference. This helps improve care collaboration, which can improve outcomes and the patient experience.

Privacy options.

Sometimes, patients may not want a clinician to hear a confidential conversation they are having with family or friends, or they may not want the clinician to see them as they are getting dressed or having an exam by an onsite provider. VirtualSitter accommodates these preferences by providing audio-video and audio-only options. The solution also offers patients the ability to turn off audio as well and includes a “doorbell” to let patients know when a teleconference is about to begin.

Supports in-patient and outpatient settings.

VirtualSitter offers the same features and options no matter where the patient is located. The solution provides continuous bandwidth optimization, especially important when the patient is at home since connectivity can vary from place to place.

Multiple-patient monitoring.

VirtualSitter enables clinicians to monitor up to 16 patients simultaneously from a single screen. The solution offers an admin view with crucial information about each patient that, when clicked, will show up on the full screen. Clinicians can use a second screen to keep the full roster of patients visible simultaneously. Clinicians also can easily add notes to the patient’s information online. This can help during shift changeovers to ensure each clinician is informed of the patient’s condition.

Customizable deployment.

VirtualSitter works within a hospital’s unique deployment needs. This includes on-premises for high-level control over traffic, CDRs (Call Detail Report), and network access; private cloud through Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services; or multi-tenant cloud for scalability, silent upgrades, and proactive monitoring.
